Heart Disease: Six major heart defects, their Causes, and SymptomsSanjoy
In this article, we will discuss the various disease and their symptoms. Almost 4.77 million people having the disease died last year in India. Hence, this topic should be discussed.
Also, we should have knowledge of these types of heart disease and their common symptoms. Even though you are not a heart patient you should have minimum knowledge of it. So, let’s get started.
Types of Heart Disease:
Coronary Artery Disease (Coronary Heart Disease):
This is the most common disease among heart patients. It is an arterial-associated disease. That is to say, some dysfunction of arteries in the heart causes this disease. Let’s understand…How!!!
It is the blockage of an artery that supplies blood to the heart. The blockage may occur due to cholesterol accumulated inside the artery. Hence, you should control your diet in which the cholesterol is zero or present in a minimum amount.
The cholesterol produces plaque inside an artery and causes the blockage of that artery. As a result, the heart does not get enough blood. The blood supply decreases, as a result, the organs of the body receive less oxygen. Also, the heart muscles might fail to cause a high risk of heart failure.
We all can sense our heartbeat. Also, we can feel that there is a perfect rhythm between every heartbeat.
Sit in a room where there is no noise. Place your hand on your chest and feel the heartbeat. Additionally, you will hear a sound like this: “Lub-Dub…Lub-Dub…” This is the actual sound of a heartbeat. On the other hand, Bollywood movies show the “Dhak Dhak” sound, which is wrong.
So, we know the rhythm of our heartbeat as a result of the above experiment. However, in the case of arrhythmia, the heart does not beat with a synchronized beat. Sometimes it may beat fast and then slow. To clarify, the heart beats with an irregular rhythm.
This disease occurs due to improper coordination between electrical impulses produced in the heart. There is a small pacemaker in our hearts. It is called as SA node (Sino-Atrial node). Some abnormality in the SA node can cause this defect.
Types of Arrhythmia:
- Tachycardia: Rapid heartbeat.
b. Bradycardia: Slow heartbeat.
c. Atrial Fibrillation: Irregular heartbeat.
d. Premature Contraction: Early heartbeat. To clarify, the heart does not beat in sync with its sound. First, heartbeats occur and the sound comes after some time.
The symptoms can be easily diagnosed with this disease. A person can feel his/her heartbeat and can diagnose.
However, there are no such worries about this condition. Because it may be a temporary condition. Yet, if this condition continues, treatment is necessary. If left untreated, it may cause death as a result.
Congenital Heart Disease:
The word congenital disease refers to that disease which is present since birth. This disease includes three types of defects:
The heart has four chambers. Two atria and two ventricles. The atria are upper chambers and ventricles are lower chambers. These four chambers are partitioned by a wall made up of cardiac muscles.
So, the hole in these cardiac muscles or heart wall in either the lower or upper chamber causes septal defects. For instance, septal refers to the wall between the two chambers.
Abnormal Heart Valves:
Our heart has valves to control the blood flow. Valves are flap-like structures. Also, we can refer to them as gates. When these gates open, blood can pass through one chamber to another chamber.
However, in these congenital diseases valves cannot open properly. As a result, blood leaks and drain in another chamber without control.
This defect is an upgraded version of abnormal heart valves. That is to say, in this defect a whole valve is absent.
Hence, as we have seen already that the congenital disease concerns structural abnormalities in the heart.
In addition, there are no visible symptoms of these congenital diseases. However, it can be detected during medical checkups.
As mentioned above, the heart has four chambers. Each chamber is separated by a wall or septum made up of cardiac muscles.
In this disease, the muscles are dilated due to arrhythmia, toxins, or heart attacks. To clarify, the muscles become weak. As a result, muscles cannot work properly. The heart does not pump blood efficiently due to blood clots. In severe conditions, it may cause heart failure.
The people between 20-60 age group are prone to develop this disease. To avoid this condition, follow the diet and be healthy.
Heart failure does not mean that heart has stopped functioning. In other words, when a patient gets heart failure, the heart continues to beat but not in a proper efficient way as before.
The causes of heart failure involve coronary artery disease, high BP, and arrhythmia.
This disease should not be ignored. Treatment is necessary otherwise may lead to death.
This is the most known and most-heard disease. We all know it as a heart attack.
It happens when the heart isn’t getting enough oxygen. That is to say, the blood cannot reach the heart due to blockage. The blood clots or plaques in arteries cause this disease. The narrowing of blood vessels is also responsible for heart attack.
The patient should immediately be treated and moved to the hospital. Heart attack is the major cause of death among various diseases. Almost, 28000 patients died due to heart attacks in 2019.
The heart disease mentioned above is critical for our health. We should have a rough knowledge of these disorders. That is to say, the knowledge of symptoms and causes of these disorders may save our life. So, here is the list of those disorders.
- Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
- Congenital Heart Disease
- Septal Defects
- Abnormal Heart Valves
- Dilated Cardiomyopathy
- Heart Failure
- Myocardial Infarction (Heart attack)

What are 4 types of heart diseases?
Types of heart disease include:
Arrhythmia is a condition in which the heart beats irregularly. A heart rhythm anomaly is known as an arrhythmia.
Atherosclerosis is an infection that damages the coronary. The hardening of the arteries is followed by the problem statement.
Cardiomyopathy is a problem that attacks the heart. The cardiac muscles harden or weaken as a result of this disorder.
Coronary artery disease (CAD)… Congenital cardiac problems.
Infections of that same heart.
What are the early warning signs of heart disease?
Pain also in chest, chest tightness, the pressure within the chest, and discomfort also in the chest (angina)
If the blood connections in your legs or arms are narrowed, you may feel pain, numbness, weakness, or cold.
Neck, jaw, throat, upper stomach, or back pain
What is the most common heart disease?
Coronary artery disease (CAD), which reduces blood flow to the heart, is the most common type of disease in the United States.
Can heart disease be cured?
We may not be able to cure heart disease, but we can make it better. Most heart diseases are now quite curable. There is some evidence that reducing cholesterol to very low levels and lowering blood pressure to normal levels can help to partially remove blockages in the coronary arteries.
How is blood vessel disease related to heart disease?
Heart disease is a serious condition. Heart and blood vessel disease (also type of heart disease) includes a wide range of issues, many of which are related to a situation known as atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is a disease that occurs when a material called plaque builds in the arteries walls. The arteries are reduced as a result of the effects,…
Which is the umbrella term for heart disease?
Heart disease, stroke, and blood vessel disease all involve some form of cardiovascular disease. Heart disease is a type of heart disease that includes a wide range of conditions that affect the structure and function of the heart. Is it accurate the heart disease begins early in life?
